Chocolate Superfood Smoothie.

Do you experience that 4pm energy crash? Just when you need to be on your toes you find yourself on your knees longing for a quick nap. If so, instead of dashing off to the nearest Starbucks for a triple latte with an extra shot, try this. Since I’ve vowed to start eating (and drinking) better, this is my go to when I start to drag. You can get very carried away with various additions, hemp seeds, protein powder etc but really the nut milk, a date, a tablespoon of cocao and a banana will do the trick if that’s all you have on hand.

Goji berries as we all know are an amazing superfood with endless antioxidants but did you know they blend up beautifully in a smoothie? Β When I describe this as a chocolate smoothie it’s really a raw cocao smoothie which is way better for you than regular cocoa and packs a powerful punch in the energy department. Add to that some avocado, chia seeds, almond butter and a banana and you begin to understand what I’m raving about. Don’t think you have to save this up until 4pm, it’s fantastic for breakfast:)

Chocolate Superfood Smoothie.

Ingredients:

6 oz almond milk (or milk of your choice)
1 small banana
1 tablespoon almond butter
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon goji berries
1 heaped tablespoon raw cocao powder
1 date or a pinch of stevia
A handful of ice cubes
Raw cocao nibs for garnish and crunch

Method:

Very easy. Just pile everything except the cocao nibs into a high powdered blender and blitz for a good 30 seconds or so. Pour into a tall glass and sprinkle over some cocao nibs.

Sip, savor and enjoy.
